In May 2021, a working group, the International Cooperation Review Group (ICRG) of the FATF conducted an onsite visit to Ghana to verify and establish the extent to which mechanisms were put in place to demonstrate the effectiveness of Ghana’s AML/CFT regime.
The ICRG met the financial sector regulators, Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), sector players, Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPS), the Non-Profit Organization (NPO) and the private sector in both face-to-face interviews and plenary discussions to demonstrate how effective measures instituted with their respective sectors/agencies were being implemented.
The ICRG was satisfied that Ghana had adequately strengthened its AML/CFT regime and mechanisms available were also tested and accepted as working effectively.
